One of Rhoose lifeguard Coaches is pictured below with some of the younger Rhoose members after her participation carrying the Olympic torch in Barry this week.

"Karen has been in the sport of Surf Lifesaving and competing for over 25 years, she has been , Welsh Champion, British Champion, International Champion, European Champion and World Champion in board and ski events. She is the most Welsh capped Surf Life Saver and has represented Great Britain on numerous occasions. However it's not only competing Karen does. She has been secretary of her club for 20 years, examiner, coach, official (at championships) and Welsh and British Team Manager. She is also the British athlete's representative for International Life Saving. She has dedicated her life to the sport and now spends most evenings with Rhoose lifeguards coaching younger members to reach their true potential. She is a real inspiration to her club, country and the athletes she coaches."
