Welcome to the Nippers Section at Rhoose Lifeguards

Nippers are aged between 7 to 12 and Rhoose Lifeguard Club has about 60 children on the membership list. We meet every Friday evening and Sunday morning for various training activities all the year round. It is our aim to ensure children are aware of the dangers of activities on the beach, in the sea and in and around swimming pools. Through training, tuition and having fun your children will improve their swimming, carry out basic life saving and first aid skills, learn rescue techniques and have a greater understanding of beach and pool safety.

During the summer months between May – October we train on a Friday between 6.00pm and 7.30pm on Barry Island Beach and between 6.00pm and 8.00pm at the lifeguard hut at Fontygary Beach the rest of the year. On Sunday morning we meet 8.00am – 9.00am in the Fontygary Park swimming pool all year round.

As well as beach, sea and pool activities we take part in galas, carnivals, camps, competitions and fundraising events where we meet clubs from all over Wales and G.B.

Rhoose Lifeguards Nippers

The club has a mixed gender and children from Rhoose, Barry, Llantwit and the Vale of Glamorgan villages attend the sessions and the Nippers have the opportunity to mix socially and make friends with future classmates of Secondary Schools.

Parents are very welcome to play an active roll in the clubs progression, from watching on the sideline to helping with the coaching. The club is run on a voluntary basis and is reliant on donations and support from local business and organisations, if you are able to support us in any way please let us know. If you require any further information please go to the contacts page and Email Liz Wong.
